Trump Mobile launched on June 16 with the T1 smartphone and the 47 Plan, tying both to key milestones in President Donald Trump’s political career. The phone was promoted as US-made, but the claim was later softened. With missed launch dates, no updates, and preorders still open, the company’s silence has raised concerns about the project’s future.
Launch pla
Trump Mobile was launched on June 16. The date was symbolic because it marked ten years since President Donald Trump first announced his 2016 presidential campaign. The company introduced a gold-colored smartphone called the T1. It looked similar to Apple’s iPhone and was promoted as a device made in the USA. Along with the phone, the company also introduced the “47 Plan.” It cost $47.45 per month and included unlimited calling, texting, and data. It also offered roadside assistance, telehealth services, device protection, and international calling. The pricing was meant to highlight Trump’s position as the 45th and 47th president.
Shift in manufacturing claim
Within days of launch, Trump Mobile changed a major part of its messaging. The website removed the “Made in the USA” label. Instead, it said the phone was “brought to life right here in the USA” and made with “American hands.” The company did not explain the revision. This raised doubts about where the phone is actually built.
Missing in action
The T1 was supposed to be released in August. Later, a spokesperson told USA Today that the launch would happen in October. As of late November, the company’s website only says the phone will be available “later this year.” Trump Mobile has also stopped posting updates. Its official account on X has been inactive since August 27. The company did not respond to questions from Business Insider about the delays.
Preorders available regardless
Even though there is no confirmed release date, Trump Mobile continues to accept preorders. Customers must pay $100 upfront. The remaining $399 will be charged when the company ships the phone. Some customers have expressed concern online, but the company has not made any public statement addressing the delays.
Questions remain
The long silence from Trump Mobile, the unclear manufacturing origin, and the repeated missed deadlines have raised questions about the project’s future. For now, buyers are waiting for updates that the company has not provided. With the year almost over, it remains uncertain whether the T1 will reach the market as promised.
