Emily Estefan’s longtime girlfriend, Gemeny Hernandez, was arrested in Miami after an alleged domestic dispute over a cellphone. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Department reported that the victim, believed to be Estefan, sustained minor injuries. Estefan appeared in court defending Hernandez, who was released on a $3,000 bond. The couple, together since 2016, has not publicly commented as the investigation continues.

The arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Department said Hernandez hit the victim on the head with the cellphone, causing minor injuries, including a bruise on the left eye and scratches on her neck. The affidavit, however, did not mention the victim's name but said the victim and Hernandez have been partners for 8 years, which people suspect might be Emily.
As per the statement given by the victim, Hernandez forcefully took her cellphone from her hand and struck the victim with the cellphone. The affidavit read, “The parties fell onto the floor as the struggle for the cellphone continued.” It also added “Once again, the victim was able to regain possession of her cellphone and conceal it under her body. Once the parties separated from each other, the victim called 911 to report the incident.”
Following the incident, Hernandez was arrested at the scene and was taken to Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Emily appeared in court during the bond hearing and defended Hernandez, pleading with the officers not to take her to jail. However, the judge noted that in domestic dispute cases, arrest is required when the police respond to the call.
