Melissa Rivers, a former co-host on Fashion Police, gave her opinions on the Golden Globes fashion from the 2026 show during an interview following all of the festivities. Her comments were both clever and funny while at times being very blunt. She commented on who she felt had great fashion sense, while also mentioning the trends that she hopes never come back again.
The most pointed comments Rivers made were about Teyana Taylor's gown by Schiaparelli, which featured a huge diamond-encrusted bow, and had a thong underneath it. Although Taylor received a lot of acclaim for her look from social media, Rivers was not impressed. "I loved it," said Rivers, "until she showed the bow." Rivers thought that the front of the dress was "a work of art" but stated, "I don't want to see anybody's crack. What is this, plumber chic?" Rivers placed Taylor's look in the category of what she felt to be the absolute worst trend of the night, which was the ultra-low back with cutouts that Vogue called "the year of the crack."
Jenna Ortega's gothic-style gown with cutouts also made the list of examples of this trend. "I'm not sure that this is the prettiest part of anyone's body," Rivers said, referring to the cutout area, and cautioned against bringing back low-slung silhouettes with visible thongs. "I want them."
