Experts warn against combining coffee with citrus fruits, milk, red meat, fried foods, fortified cereals, and salty items. Healthier pairings like almonds, berries, oatmeal, and bread may help support better digestion and long-term wellness.

Many of us start our day with a cup of coffee, but what we often forget is that the food we consume alongside that subtly risks the intake of our nutrition. Several experts believe that most of the food we intake as breakfast creates problematic reactions when consumed alongside caffeine. They affect our digestion while making our heart health weak and nutrient absorption slow.



One of the top-ranked foods to avoid pairing with coffee is citrus fruits. When both caffeine and citrus combine, they tend to irritate the stomach lining as both are equally acidic and may cause acid reflux. This combination leads to nausea, heartburn, and bloating.
