Audi Crooks undecided on Iowa State future as transfer portal looms after early tournament exit
Audi Crooks has not decided yet if she will stay with Iowa State Cyclones women's basketball or enter the transfer portal next season. The junior center said she is still thinking about her future after the team’s early exit from NCAA March Madness.
Crooks has been one of the best players in women’s college basketball this season. She averaged 25.8 points per game, which was second in the country, and also added 7.7 rebounds. Her strong performances helped Iowa State start the season with a long winning streak and reach the top 10 in the rankings.
However, the season ended disappointingly. The Cyclones lost in the first round of March Madness, even though Crooks scored 37 points in the game. In three seasons with the team, she has still not reached the second weekend of the tournament, which has made her future uncertain.
Two of her teammates, Addy Brown and Jada Williams, have already decided to enter the transfer portal. If Crooks also chooses to leave, she would easily become one of the top players available.
Despite the uncertainty, she said the focus is currently on her teammates, rather than making a quick decision. “We’re all still processing everything right now,” Crooks said.
The transfer portal for women’s college basketball will open soon after the national championship game, which means a decision could come in the next few weeks. “The main thing is making sure everyone is mentally OK after the loss,” she added.
With her scoring ability and strong season, many teams will be interested if she decides to transfer, but for now her future with Iowa State is still undecided.
