Azzi Fudd will miss her second WNBA game after being ruled out of the Dallas Wings' matchup against the Atlanta Dream on May 12 because of a right knee injury. The information came around two hours before tipoff after Fudd had previously been listed as probable to play. It is still unclear when the injury happened.

Fudd, who was the No. 1 overall pick this season, made her WNBA debut on May 9, coming off the bench for Dallas. In 18 minutes, Fudd recorded three points, one rebound, and one assist. After the game, head coach Jose Fernandez spoke about the team’s lineup decisions and said the players already knew who would start before the game. “It’s just a credit to our team and the makeup of our team right now,” Fernandez said after their win over the Indiana Fever.

Earlier on Tuesday, Fudd was seen taking part in the team’s shootaround and doing skill work with the guards during the open media session, according to Dallas Hoops Journal. Before the game against Atlanta, Fernandez said the team decided to keep her out as a precaution because of her long-term health. “Out of an abundance of caution and her long-term health, we’re keeping her out tonight,” he said.

Fudd has dealt with major knee injuries before. In 2019, she tore the ACL and MCL in her right knee during a USA Basketball event. In 2023, while playing for the UConn Huskies, she tore the ACL in the same knee again and also suffered a medial meniscus tear.
