No. 2 South Carolina overwhelms Queens 121–49 as Gamecocks post third-highest scoring game in program history
Second-ranked South Carolina dominated Queens 121–49 at Colonial Life Arena, marking the third-highest scoring game in program history and the most under Dawn Staley. All ten Gamecocks scored, led by Joyce Edwards’ 25 points and Ta’Niya Latson’s 24. South Carolina shot 66% and stifled Queens defensively. The Gamecocks head to Las Vegas to face Duke next, while Queens meets UNC Wilmington.
The No. 2-ranked South Carolina took over Queens on Sunday to seal a 121- 49 victory at home in Colonial Life Arena, Columbia. The 121 points by South Carolina are the third-most points scored in a game in program history and are also the most points scored in a game during Dawn Stanley's time with the Gamecocks. The single-game scoring record set by the program is 137 points in 1979.

This is the fourth time in the last five seasons that South Carolina has started with five consecutive wins. South Carolina didn't have hard time scoring against Queens, as all ten players on the team scored points while the starting five posted double figures in Sunday night's game. The Gamecocks were led by their sophomore forward Joyce Edwards, who scored 25 points in 25 minutes of playing, followed by Ta’Niya Latson, the Florida State transfer, who contributed 24 points. Senior guard Raven Johnson had 12 points while junior guard Tessa Johnson added 13. 6-foot-6 Centre Marian Okot recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Adhel Tac registered her career's first double double scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Gamecocks.

“I like the fact that we can score, and we can score in a lot of different ways,” said the Gamecocks' head coach, Dawn Stanley.

South Carolina's aggressive defence troubled the queen's offence and restricted them to just 49 points. The Gamecocks together shot 66% as a team.

The Gamecocks will open against Duke on Wednesday at the Players Era Championship Game in Las Vegas, and Queens will play UNC Wilmington next Sunday.
