The Kansas City Chiefs said they are aware of domestic violence allegations connected to wide receiver Rashee Rice after posts shared by his former girlfriend surfaced on social media. The team confirmed it is in communication with the NFL but declined further comment. Rice has not been charged, and authorities say no police reports were filed. The situation follows a season already impacted by Rice’s prior suspension.

The Kansas City Chiefs released a short statement on Wednesday night after domestic violence allegations involving wide receiver Rashee Rice began circulating on social media.

The allegations came from a public Instagram post shared earlier in the day by Rice’s former girlfriend Dacoda Nichole Jones. The post includes pictures of physical abuse, such as bruises on the face and body, and also damaged items in the house.

While neither the post nor the team’s statement mentioned Rice by name, the woman said the person involved is the father of her two children. Rice has two children with her.

The Chiefs released a statement on jan 7 saying that they are aware of the situation and are in contact with the NFL.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the statement said.

As of now, Rice has not been charged in connection with the allegations. According to the authorities, there have been no police reports filed in Overland Park, Kansas, where the abuse has occurred.

The situation adds to what has already been a difficult season for the 25-year-old receiver who was picked up by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 draft. Rice missed the first six games of the 2025 season after being suspended by the NFL for his role in a high-speed crash on a Dallas-area highway in March 2024. The crash left multiple people injured.

Rice later pleaded guilty to felony charges related to the incident. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and placed on probation for five years. After serving his suspension, he returned to the field but never fully found his rhythm.

He finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns. Kansas City struggled throughout the year and ended with a 6-11 record, missing the playoffs for the first time in ten years.

The NFL has said in the past that it reviews domestic violence allegations even when there are no formal charges, and the league can place players on the commissioner’s exempt list while investigations are ongoing.

For now, the Chiefs are staying quiet as the league gathers information. “We have no further comment at this time,” the team said on Wednesday.
