Top-ranked UConn women’s basketball dominated Notre Dame 85–47 at Gampel Pavilion, extending its winning streak to 19 games. Sarah Strong led with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and reached 1,000 career points, becoming the third-fastest Husky to do so. Five UConn players scored in double figures as the Huskies overwhelmed Notre Dame early and never looked back.
The no.1 ranked university of Connecticut women’s basketball team defeated Notre Dame by sealing a dominant 85-47 win on Monday at Gampel Pavilion.

With this win, UConn recorded its largest win margin against Notre Dame and also advanced its winning streak to 19 games.

Huskies had five of its players scoring in double figures. Sarah Strong led the UConn scoreboard with 18 points and also surpassed 1000 career points in her 59th game. She is the third fastest player to reach 1000 points after Maya Moore and Paige Bueckers, who recorded 1000 points in just 55 games. The sophomore also led the team in rebounds by grabbing 11 rebounds and three steals. As per the ESPN Reports, Strong is currently averaging 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists per game while shooting 59.9 from the field.

Azzi Fudd scored 15 points while KK Arnold chipped in 12 points. Arnold also led the Huskies in assists by posting five assists and two steals. The Wisconsin transfer Serah Williams added 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Ashlyn contributed 10 points for the UConn victory over Notre Dame.

During the first quarter, the Fighting Irish missed all of their first seven shots, which gave the Huskies a leading edge and helped them capitalize on it. Junior guard Hannah Hidalgo had no points to her name throughout the first quarter. She shot only 5 of 15 attempts and struggled to find her rhythm.

However, Hidalgo continues her double-digit scoring to 85 games by posting 16 points against the UConn Huskies.

The only player other than Hidalgo to score in double digits for Notre Dame in Monday’s game was Cassandra Prosper, who finished with 12 points for the Fighting Irish.

The UConn Huskies are set to play Georgetown on thursday while Notre Dame will play Miami at home on the same day.
