UConn’s Azzi Fudd is named AP national player of the week and Big East player of the week after scoring a season-high 31 points against Michigan and 24 points with eight rebounds versus Utah. Stanford’s Nunu Agara is runner-up. Honorable mentions include Aliyah Collins, Clara Strack, and Syla Swords, while Richmond’s Maggie Doogan nearly recorded a triple-double in two wins.

UConn Huskies Azzi Fudd is named the national player of the week in women’s basketball by the Associated Press for week 3 of this season. She is also the Big East player of the week for the first time this season and the third time in her college career.

The Huskies took home the Big East’s weekly awards for the second consecutive week after winning both of their games in the Basketball Hall of Fame women’s showcase.

The red shirt senior posted a season high 31 points and knocked down four free throws in the final minutes of Friday's game against Michigan and followed by scoring 24 points and a career high eight rebounds against Utah on Sunday. Fudd shot 58.1% from the field and 68.8% from deep across the two wins last week.

According to ESPN, the star guard is averaging 21 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game this season while not having missed a single free throw so far.

Nunu Agara, the junior forward from Stanford, is the runner-up for the AP national player of the week award. In the Cardinals' game against the Mountain Hawks, she scored 24 points and made 10 shots in 10 attempts. Agara also recorded a career high of 16 rebounds in the game against UC Davis.

High Point‘s guard Aliyah Collins, Kentucky’s centre Clara Strack, and Michigan’s guard Syla Swords are the honourable mentions in the Associated Press weekly awards.

Maggie Doogan from Richmond is the player to keep an eye on after narrowly missing her triple-double despite scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists. The senior forward led Richmond to two dominant wins and posted 17 points in the comeback win over Navy.
