Just‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ some days back, a wild grizzly bear attack a group of school kids in a valley near Bella Coola, which is the reason for multiple students and teachers' injuries. The police after this started bear hunting in the area and the local people were also informed to keep an eye on the bear around their houses.

An‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ outing that could have been a fun and educational experience of an elementary class turned into a terrifying incident when a grizzly bear suddenly appeared and attacked the group in British Columbia. About‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ ten people, which included children and adults, were injured in the assault. The police are searching for the bear that caused the attack, and due to the incident, the school is not ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌operating.

On Thursday afternoon, a grizzly bear in the Bella Coola Valley on the Central Coast of British Columbia went wild over a group of students and teachers. Many people got injured, and a quick direct search for the animal was already in place as per the police, school, and conservation authorities.

The accident was in the Old Trail area of the Nuxalk Nation, a heavily forested area and the natural home of a wide range of animals. It is reported that at 1:35 pm the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received a call about the location of an altercation between a grizzly bear and a school ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌group. The authorities are holding back the information regarding the injuring of the people but they have confirmed that the police are working on ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌it.

CBC is a Canadian broadcaster that reported the figures of the people that were hurt in the wild animal attack as follows: two people were very badly injured and two others seriously. Besides that, some students and staff members were given first aid at the scene and later dismissed, as reported by the outlet. CBS News confirmed the information by reference to CBC and the RCMP.

The British Columbia Conservation Officer Service has released formal advice to the public that requests them to keep away from the forests and riverbanks close to them. The corporation declared on Friday that they were still looking for and catching the bear. The officials pointed out that the animal was still around and, therefore, was a potential danger to the people of the community.

In a Facebook announcement to the people, Nuxalk Nation Chief Samuel Schooner explained that the "aggressive bear" had not been stopped yet. He instructed the people to be indoors, not to take the road or path, and not to go near the highway close to the administration office until the next warning. His message was mainly about safety and thus it discouraged the residents from trying to locate the bear on their own.

According to the Conservation Officer Service, the school group was along a river trail when the grizzly came out of a dense forest and attacked them. The agency said that a few teachers intervened during the attack, using bear spray and a bear banger to scare the animal away from the students.

A mother, Veronica Schooner, told The Canadian Press that her son who is 10 years old, Alvarez, was one of the children that got involved and is still in a state of shock. She said that her son told her that he ran to save his life. He said that the bear reached him so closely that he felt its fur. She also said that although many adults tried to separate them, one man teacher was the one upon whom the attack was most intensive.

Acwsalcta School, an independent First Nation school serving the Nuxalk community, confirmed that students and staff were involved. The school announced that it would be closed on Friday so that the families can take time off to recover and also for the provision of the emotional support needed. The school, in its statement, expressed its sympathy with the student and staff member who got injured and, moreover, it pledged to help the students who will find it difficult to digest the occurrence of such traumatic events.

It‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ is a totally different situation from that of the previous grizzly attack which happened in the McGregor Mountain area of British Columbia where two hikers were attacked, last month. Later one of the hikers died in a hospital due to the complications of his injuries. Later‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ on, the Conservation Officer Service made it known that the grizzly which was the source of the incident had been put down.

The police in Bella Coola are working extremely hard and very persistently to locate the bear responsible for the Thursday incident. They also request from the people to keep themselves watchful and, if they happen to see something that they find suspicious, they should instantly get in touch with ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌them.
