In a surprising turn of events, former US President Donald Trump has announced that he is stepping away from his pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize. This statement follows the Nobel Committee's decision not to recognize his efforts. Trump's focus has shifted, expressing skepticism about Denmark's ability to safeguard Greenland from potential threats posed by Russia and China.

Venezuelan opposition leader Machado says she "presented" Trump with Nobel Peace Prize

US President Donald Trump has stated he no longer cares about the Nobel Peace Prize, a shift from his previous insistence that he deserved the award. This change in stance follows the Nobel Committee's decision not to grant him the prize. Trump also indicated he no longer feels bound to prioritize peace in his considerations regarding Greenland.

Trump's comments were made on Tuesday, just a day after he sent a letter to the Norwegian Prime Minister. In that letter, he expressed that he no longer felt obligated to "think purely of Peace" concerning Greenland. He had previously campaigned for the award, claiming credit for resolving eight wars.

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented Trump with her Nobel Peace Prize medal last week. Machado had received this award months prior to the presentation.

Trump told a reporter, “I don't care about the Nobel Prize. First of all, a very fine woman felt that I deserved it and really wanted me to have the Nobel Prize, and I appreciate that. If anybody thinks that Norway doesn't control the Nobel Prize, they are just kidding.”

The letter to the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Støre, dated Monday, outlined Trump's altered perspective.

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT.”

Norwegian Prime Minister Støre responded by emphasizing that the Norwegian government does not make decisions regarding the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Committee is responsible for these decisions.

Trump's letter to Støre was sent following a series of public statements. In these statements, he had accused Denmark of not adequately addressing what he described as a Russian security threat in the Arctic region. His focus on Greenland and its strategic importance to the United States was evident in his communication. He suggested that NATO should reciprocate the support he believes he has provided to the alliance. The President's assertion of needing "Complete and Total Control of Greenland" underscores his strategic priorities.
