Bad Bunny tops 2025 Latin Grammy Nominations, ending Édgar Barrera’s streak

Bad Bunny leads the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards with 12 nominations, surpassing Édgar Barrera’s two-year streak at the top. The Latin Recording Academy revealed nominees Wednesday, with Barrera and Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso tying for second with 10 nods. The ceremony will take place Nov. 13 in Las Vegas and feature new categories highlighting visual media and roots music.
Bad Bunny leads the field at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards with 12 nominations, breaking producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera’s two-year hold on the top spot. The Puerto Rican superstar’s recognition comes on the strength of his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, and several standout singles, marking another milestone in his already dominant career.

The Latin Recording Academy unveiled the nominees Wednesday in a livestream, confirming Bad Bunny’s leading position. Barrera, who earned 13 nominations in 2023 and nine in 2024, remains a strong contender with 10 nominations this year, tying Argentine hip-hop duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso.

Bad Bunny is nominated for album of the year and urban music album of the year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. He also scored nods in urban/urban fusion performance, reggaeton performance, roots song, and short form music video. His influence is most visible in the record and song of the year categories, where he earned double nominations for “DTmF” and “Baile Inolvidable.” In addition, “La Mudanza” and “DTmF” brought him two spots in the best urban song category.

Competition Across Categories

Album of the year nominees include CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Rauw Alejandro, Gloria Estefan, Vicente García, Joaquina, Natalia Lafourcade, Carín León, Liniker, Elena Rose, and Alejandro Sanz. Both Bad Bunny and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso are also nominated twice in the record of the year category, joined by Lafourcade, Sanz, Jorge Drexler & Conociendo Rusia, Zoe Gotusso, Karol G, and Liniker.

The best new artist field reflects the diversity of Latin music, with nominees Alleh, Annasofia, Yerai Cortés, Juliane Gamboa, Camila Guevara, Isadora, Alex Luna, Paloma Morphy, Sued Nunes, and Ruzzi.

“The impact of Latin music continues to grow on a global level, and all of the nominated artists encompass its diversity and richness while continuing to preserve the iconic sounds that make our music unique,” stated Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy.

In 2025, the Latin Grammys introduced a new category for visual media, music for visual media, and roots song categories in a testament to the growth of the industry into the realm of storytelling and heritage sounds.

Awards Ceremony Details

The 26th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held Nov. 13 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It will be broadcast live on TelevisaUnivision's U.S. properties at 8 p.m. Eastern, following a one-hour pre-show at 7 p.m. Eastern.

Though Bad Bunny topped the nomination list once more, the awards will feature both established legends and new faces, highlighting the ongoing global popularity of Latin music.
